I’m doing it again. The schedule. Even after the most prolific breakdown - I seem to be feeling better after a Hard Reset. We will not be discussing mental health here, but a good Hard Reset via Psychedelic Therapy is literally a lifesaver… and a routine saver. My routine, newly formed and typically easily discarded, has been saved.
The Ukraine War is what I am going to ramble on today because someone (J.D.Vance) has made a big deal out of “drawing parallels” between this war and the 2003 War in Iraq. I happen to be a master, self-certified, of fucking patterns and I can tell you with certainty, ‘That ain’t it’.
But what historical strategic patterns do you see? I ask myself. You might ask me, as well.
Well, self, let us talk about immovable frontlines like in WWI. Let’s see some silly-goose-type revolutionary attrition, in America, Latin America, and even French Canada. We might not need revolutionary tactics to draw a parallel, just revolutionary weaponry developments to get the shit unstuck. Does anyone know what a “poop knife” is?
I alluded to the tank-and-airborne-combo necessity in a previous post. I support my thinking. I’ve got my back.
Importantly, let’s talk about Vance’s “reasoning” and how he’s so disastrously wrong that of course, the Twitter (Xitter, Shixxer) thread is trending.
The number one reason he gave is that the same mastermind war-mongers are leading the charge. To quote the foolish Gambino himself, “ The same idiots who push the most aggressive posture in Ukraine (YOU) did the same in Iraq.”
Why you gotta bring up old shit, bro? the “YOU’S” are hollering in defense of freedom and democracy? Is that the big issue? Seriously, it is baffling to him that the leaders of America are referring to American Foreign Policy as a reason to be involved in something that has to do with American Foreign Policy. It is kind of baffling that at this point in time, leaders even remember what American Foreign policy is, lest how to go about it… so in a way, I can empathize with his confusion. I am continually baffled at what leaders don’t fucking know and so… we can all be baffled together.
Daniel Drezner dives into the shallow end of Vance’s Numero Dos about the “bizarre and reflexive WW2 analogies…”. I really can’t help but warrant a head-pat of sympathy for J.D. Vance here. I mean, American leadership always uses WW2 as analogous with the “worst possible shit we can imagine” because leadership memory and education is short and that is, certainly, the most prolific bad stuff they can likely remember. As if the American Way of wanting to put a stop to the spread of evil both originated and ended with WW2. We (humanity) have been “fighting the marching columns of doom” since the dawn of time. I am sure, with a little googling and some critical thinking skills Vance would be able to draw better a better parallel. The latter is hard to come by, so don’t hold your breath on a change of direction from Vance and the cohorts that support this silly Ten-Point shit pile of comparison.
I feel like I don’t even have to go into more depth on all the bullet points that were made in foolishly drawing the parallel between Ukraine/Russia and Iraq circa 2003. If you do happen to agree with this analogy, please comment and put me in my place.
I do love a good analogy though. Remember when Girard Butler marched 300 fucking spartans where-ever-the-hell to fight fucking monsters? [I am certain this synopsis is wrong because I am a woman and don’t give a shit about that move - and that is an important point] I also don’t think this is anything like that situation at all - except Girard Butler screaming his troops into forward positions might be helpful. Have the Ukrainians tried screaming? And I’m not talking about loudly requesting international support - I am directly talking about a very vocal revision of their strategy to define success. International allies, US included and most certainly at the forefront, have been trying to gently lead the Ukrainian leadership to define success in small, manageable bite-sizes instead of the over-arching “we can lose no territory” definition of “winning”.
We should be asking Ukraine to make accommodations in their battlefield plans, which would ultimately lead to a better position to negotiate. Diplomacy is the ultimate goal, since annihilation is frowned upon these days, right?
